LMIC is pleased to introduce a Unique Program tailored to the changing needs of the legal community

Our unique new Independent Contractor Program ("ICP") is designed to provide coverage for a growing number of California lawyers working as independent contractors for other lawyers or law firms (Hiring Entity).

• The ability to pay as you go. After an initial deposit premium of $300, you pay a premium that is billed on a monthly schedule based on the actual number of hours you worked.
• Coverage provided on an Assignment-by-Assignment basis. This approach eliminates any question about whether you qualify as an insured for your work on behalf of a particular Hiring Entity, and provides an incentive for that Entity to retain you over someone else without coverage. Coverage can also be provided for multiple assignments you may be working on for various Hiring Entities simultaneously.
• Built-in 3 year tail coverage. Options also exist for a longer Extended Reporting Period, by LMIC approval.
• Full Lawyers' Mutual member benefits during the policy period, including our ongoing loss prevention and continuing legal education materials and programs.
  

• Only solo practitioners, government employees or employed in-house counsel doing work as independent contractors for a Hiring Entity.
• To be eligible for the ICP, you must also have:
• No claims made against you in the last 10 years alleging any liability from the performance of Professional Services;
• No knowledge of any error, omission or disagreement with any former or current client, or with any Hiring Entity that has retained you or may retain you as an Independent Contractor which might give rise to a claim or suit;
• No disciplinary actions against you by any State Bar;
• Principal office located in the state of California; and
• Current membership in good standing with the State Bar of California.
  

If you meet these qualifications, THEN you are eligible to apply for coverage under the Lawyers' Mutual Independent Contractor Program.
